PHILADELPHIA – March 15, 2011 –Anthony & Sylvan Pools today made a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Philadelphia Region. In addition, the company’s top leadership in the Philadelphia area participated in a five-hour “Change the Luck of a Child” Phone Bank aimed at raising funds for the charities.
“Our president, Howard Wertman, has been very involved with the Ronald McDonald House over the past several years,” said Jerry Strauss, vice president of Anthony & Sylvan Pools, the largest builder of in-ground concrete pools in the nation. “We couldn’t think of a better way for our company to help out a great cause than to help answer the phones and raise some money.”
Howard Wertman’s wife, Eva, has volunteered for the charity for a year and a half, and both Howard and Eva volunteered their time this past August for a week as counselors at the Ronald McDonald Camp in the Poconos for children with cancer and those who had cancer. “We’re delighted that Anthony & Sylvan is able to financially strengthen this wonderful charity as well,” said Wertman.
The Anthony & Sylvan leadership team participating in the phone bank on Tuesday, March 15 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. includes:

This is the second annual phone bank fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, a non-profit organization that creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children in our community. In addition the well-known Ronald McDonald Houses that provide housing for families of seriously ill children, the Charities also support Family Rooms in 13 area hospitals; a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, which delivers medical and dental care to qualified children; and a number of area scholarships and grants.
